Styling tips that protect your hair, small daily habits make a big difference As a hairdresser, I get a lot of questions about styling. And how to do it in a way that's kind to your hair. The answer is usually that the small everyday habits add up over the years. The good news is that changing them doesn't have to be complicated. Protect your hair from heat Flat irons, curling irons and hairdryers are fantastic tools, but heat affects your hair if it isn't protected. You don't need to stop using them, you just need a heat protectant first. Our Leave-In Conditioner contains hydrolyzed quinoa that protects hair against heat up to 220°C (428°F). Apply it to damp or dry hair, don't rinse out, and style as usual. Simple. Start brushing from the ends This is one of the easiest ways to protect your hair. Always start at the ends and work your way up when brushing, never the other way around. This way you avoid unnecessary breakage and frizz. Hair strands are a bit more sensitive when wet or damp, so a wide-tooth comb or a soft brush is ideal here, and again, always start at the ends and work your way up. Vary your ponytail If you always put your ponytail in the same spot, it creates tension on the hair follicles over time. Try moving it around, higher, lower, or to the side. Sleep with your hair loose or in a loose braid when you can. And if you want to take it a step further, a silk or satin pillowcase reduces friction against your hair while you sleep too. The towel matters A terry cloth towel creates friction that leads to frizz and tangles. Try blotting your hair dry instead of rubbing, it really does make a difference. Choose products that actually hydrate Many styling products contain silicones that give a sense of soft, shiny hair. The problem is that silicones sit as a film around the hair strand, blocking moisture from getting in. It looks good short-term, but the hair doesn't get the nourishment it needs long-term. Our Leave-In Conditioner is silicone-free and works from within the hair strand rather than coating it. It hydrates, protects against heat and UV, and builds hair strength with every use. You don't need to change everything at once. Pick one thing to start with, maybe the heat protectant or the towel, and see how your hair responds. Small everyday changes make more of a difference than you'd think over time. Want personalized tips for your hair?
