What I changed in my routine during pregnancy (and why)

Pregnancy, Hormones & The Products We Use Daily

Pregnancy has a way of making you pause. Suddenly you start reading labels more carefully, thinking twice about what you eat, what you breathe in, and what you put on your body. When I became pregnant with my first child, I looked even further into my bathroom cabinet, now pregnant with #2, I’m cleansing out even more unnecessary stuff in my bathroom - and it feels freeing!

For many women, this is actually the first time we truly reflect on how connected everything is. And naturally, beauty routines become part of that reflection. Can I use this when pregnant? Is it safe for my baby (and me)? I think these questions are so healthy, and for many women this is an awakening I truly celebrate.

Why pregnancy changes everything

During pregnancy, your body goes through enormous hormonal shifts.

These changes can affect:

  • hair growth cycles
  • scalp sensitivity
  • oil production
  • skin hydration

Some women experience thicker, fuller hair. Others notice their scalp becoming more sensitive or imbalanced. After pregnancy, many experience something entirely different: postpartum hair shedding. (ugh)

But - all of this is normal. It also highlights how closely hair, skin, and hormones are connected.

A few gentle switches

If you want to take a more conscious approach during pregnancy, here are a few small changes that can make a difference - without overcomplicating your routine.

1. Be mindful of heavily fragranced products

Fragrance can contain many undisclosed ingredients. During pregnancy, many women (including me) choose to simplify and reduce exposure where possible.

2. Simplify your routine

This is a beautiful time to come back to basics. Fewer products, more intentional choices.

3. Choose products that support your scalp

Your scalp is skin, and it responds to hormonal changes. Keeping it balanced and healthy creates the foundation for stronger hair over time.

What I personally reach for

During pregnancy, I’ve found myself coming back to products that feel simple, intentional, and supportive.

Not because they promise quick fixes -
but because they work with the body, not against it.

Clean Kit

When hormones affect oil production, the scalp can feel unbalanced more quickly. A gentle reset helps remove build-up and restore balance - without stripping.

Hair Oil

Hydration becomes key. A nourishing oil helps support both scalp and lengths, especially when hair feels drier or more sensitive than usual.

Density Kit (my favorite post-pregnancy)

After pregnancy, many women experience increased shedding. This is where consistency matters.

The Density Kit supports the scalp, strengthens at the root, and helps encourage fuller, thicker-looking hair in just 90 days - a dream during periods of hormonal change.

& a final thought

Pregnancy often brings a new level of awareness, from true care - we are welcoming the most beautiful chapter in life. And that deserves the best start there is.
