Keratin is a protein that makes up more than 90% of the hair's structure and is a source of strength and flexibility. Keratin is rich in an amino acid that gives the protein its unique strength and protection. When the hair undergoes a heat treatment or chemical processing, the cysteine bridges are broken, leaving the hair in a weakened state that can lead to hair damage. Under Your Skins Heat Protective Texture Spray contains a peptide derived from yeast, which has been designed to mimic the amino acid found in Keratin. (This ingredient is called saccharomyces cerevisiae and commonly known as baker's or brewer's yeast)

In addition to these ingredients, Heat Protective Texture Spray also contains hydrolyzed bamboo and corn protein that actively protect hair from heat and UV damage. These extracts are also good for preserving hair color and health as bamboo is rich in silica.
