Why We Said No to Aerosols - And What That Means for You

Helena Olsson

When we started developing our new dry shampoo, one thing was clear: no aerosols.
But what does that actually mean - and why does it matter?

What are aerosols, really?

Aerosols are found in many spray products like hairspray, dry shampoo, and deodorants. To create that fine mist, they rely on propellants like butane, isobutane, or propane - the same types of gases used in lighters.

It might seem convenient, but it comes at a cost.

What happens when you spray?

When you use an aerosol product, you're not just releasing the product itself - you're also spraying those propellant gases into the air. This affects both the air quality in your home and the environment outside your bathroom.

In fact, some studies show that aerosols can pollute indoor air more than traffic does. And yes, we inhale small amounts every time we use them.

The environmental impact? Bigger than you think.

Most propellants are fossil fuel-based and contribute to the greenhouse effect.
Plus, aerosol packaging can leave behind waste in nature if not disposed of properly.

So, we chose a different path.

We created 3 Ingredient Mist Dry Shampoo - a light, natural powder in a non-aerosol bottle.
With a gentle squeeze, you get a soft puff of clean, effective dry shampoo - no gas, no nasties.
